A few days ago, celebri­ty singers, Jen­nifer Lopez and Marc Antho­ny attend­ed a cou­ple of polit­i­cal events in Wash­ing­ton, D.C. They went to see Nan­cy Pelosi at Capi­tol Hill to dis­cuss the edu­ca­tion of Lati­no youth and then lat­er that same day, they met with Pres­i­dent Barack Oba­ma and his wife, Michelle, at the White House. They also addressed the media on the upcom­ing edu­ca­tion­al leg­is­la­tion on Sep­tem­ber 16, 2009. At the Con­gres­sion­al His­pan­ic Cau­cus Institute’s 32nd Annu­al Awards Gala at the Wal­ter E. Wash­ing­ton Con­ven­tion Cen­ter, they were seat­ed with appoint­ed Supreme Court Jus­tice Sonia Sotomay­or. At the event, Pres­i­dent Oba­ma expressed to the audi­ence dur­ing his speech, “She’s some­one who we adore and who will make us real­ly, real­ly proud in the upcom­ing years”.

They even took the twins along, Max and Emme. Speak­ing to the Wash­ing­ton Post, Marc con­fessed, laugh­ing: “Max was tear­ing apart the White House”. That night, the Lati­no celebs went to the 32nd Annu­al Gala cel­e­brat­ing Lati­nos and par­tic­u­lar­ly, Marc him­self, who received a spe­cial Life­time Achieve­ment Award.

Antho­ny also announced the cre­ation of his Marc Antho­ny Schol­ar­ship Fund, which will help Lati­no stu­dents inter­est­ed in the arts to ful­fill their dreams of attend­ing col­lege.
