U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor — a Bronx native — was among six people awarded Harvard University’s highest honor in African and African-American studies.
Sotomayor said she was “deeply humbled” by the W.E.B. Du Bois medal. “I am always reminded . . . that I never stand alone because I do stand on the shoulders … of so many people in this room and everyone who preceded me to open the door of opportunity,” Sotomayor said.
